Farm to fork catering
Farm to Fork is our community-based catering enterprise seeking to connect us to our plate. Our passion for food - what it means to our bodies to eat well and eat fresh - informs our belief that food tastes better when it is grown without chemicals but from rich, healthy soil.
We recognise that how where we choose to source our ingredients has an impact on the food chain. We hope that by training aspiring young farmers in our garden to bring food straight from the farm to your fork, we are investing in building sustainable livelihoods and resilient local food economies.
Our menus are proudly vegetarian and are informed by the seasonal produce grown in our onsite organic garden and in the wider Lynedoch valley network of organic farms. The rest of our ingredients we source as much as possible from local producers so that it is fresh and our surrounding community. When served on request, we strive to ensure that our meat is free-range or from our biodynamic neighbours.
It has been a challenging journey and we are still learning, but we are working towards making our kitchen and garden a living model of a viable, local food system that is aligned with our values, from the ground up. We are learning what it means to provide meals that are nutritious and delicious and offer catering for groups of 12 to 100 people.
Who we feed
Every day we serve breakfast and lunch to 65 babies and toddlers and lunch to 40 youth in our after-school youth hub. During our university modules, we serve PDG and MPhil students and staff, bringing the average plates served per day to 150 meals. We also provide catering to Eco-lodge visitors, conferences and workshop attendees.
